Hey Reader,
I hate to say it, Walnut Canyon National Monument in Arizona, but you've just been usurped as my favorite National Monument. This is pretty shocking for meβWalnut has held the top spot since my first visit five years ago. But somehow, Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument in New Mexico knocked my socks off. Plus, there are hot springs nearby, and that makes everything better. Iβll have more on visiting Gila Cliff Dwellings for you in a few weeks.

Also, consider calling your Congresspeople to oppose the current budget proposal, which slashes the NPS budget by one billion dollars. Keep in mind that the National Park Service is already twenty-three billion dollars behind in maintenance.
